MARIETTA, OH, December 7, 2009 --- Eramet Marietta, one of Washington County’s largest industrial employers recently honored its 40+ employee Joint Safety Audit Team during a day-long, plant-wide celebration of employee commitment to safety.
The Joint Safety Audit Team, which is comprised of members of Eramet’s hourly and salary employees, was formed in early 2008 to help identify and rectify potential safety concerns throughout the facility. The team performed exceptionally well, working together cooperatively throughout the plant to enhance the safety and well-being of all Eramet Marietta employees. So well, in fact that what was initially established as a temporary, experimental approach to safety has become a key component of Eramet Marietta’s Safety program, says company CEO Frank Bjorklund.
“Over the past year or more, we’ve worked hard to make our facility safer for all of our employees. Many changes have come about because of the plant’s innovative Joint Safety Audit Team,” he relates. “Members of this team spent many hours performing tasks associated with safety to support our common goal that Eramet Marietta continues to provide a safe working environment for its employees. Their hard work continues to pay off.”
Team members performed inspections, walk-throughs, paperwork reviews and recommended remediation when necessary.
In addition to honoring the work of the Joint Safety Audit Team, Eramet Marietta celebrated the plant-wide safety efforts of all employees with cakes, banners and small gifts of appreciation.
“We know that working and thinking safety isn’t confined just to our Joint Safety Audit Team, it’s a company-wide push,” Bjorklund says. “Every person at Eramet Marietta is walking the walk when it comes to safety efforts and we want to be sure that our employees understand how much we appreciate their efforts.”
